Overview:

Design a Combination Mark for a new, upscale sushi restaurant in downtown Los Angeles. The restaurant’s name is “Hikari” (“light” in Japanese) and is owned and operated by two sisters. Their demographic is the urban professional Angeleno, 20s to 50s, whose lifestyle consists of interest in art, design, music, fashion, and of course great food.

Early designs explore a range of visuals centered on the meaning of “Hikari” (light) and the restaurant’s modern, high‑end identity, using contemporary letterforms, clean line work, and subtle nods to Japanese iconography.
